Bernhardt Schmuck - Maria Anna (Messmer) Family History
If you are searching for any Schmuck (Schmucker) relatives please send me your email and I will invite you to enter the Schmuck tree on "My Heritage" where you can search for relatives which includes over 9,500 relatives from the Drexler, Peden, Greatrix etc. families. Ron Schmuck
NEW! Many people have recently asked about the spelling of Maria Anna Schmuck maiden name, is it Messner or Messmer?? To answer the question I am posting a great work by our cousin Mark Drexler, "Historian Extraordinaire" who spent many hours creating this document while researching the Drexler tree in Soufflenheim , Alsace, France 2006.
But keep in mind that our ancestor Mathias (Martin) Schmuck 1700-1771
was married to Vronique (Veronica) Messner 1705-1752.
And it is the Canadian settled Bernhardt Schmuck who married Maria Anna Messmer.
So we are related to both Messmer & Messner.

Please click here. "Messmer is not Messner"
If you would like to visit the "My Heritage Schmuck tree (over 10,000 relatives) just send me your email address and I will send you an "Invitation" which will let you go into the tree and examine, change, and make corrections, even include pictures of your relatives, print out trees etc.
send to; [email protected]
*I have spent many hours restoring the St.Boniface "Old Walled Cemetery" which contains a large number*
of our family members and associated families to see this work please click on;

Article on Paul Messner 1823-1886
Soufflenheimer's famous artist and curer of many ailments by Marie-Odile Albrecht.
This is an excellent article explaining the life of Paul Messner. The first Messner connection to the Schmuck tree I know of is Martin Schmuck (Schmucker) 1700-1771 & Veronica Messner 1705-1752 in Soufflenheim
Paul Messner is a very famous person in Soufflenheim who had the ability to cure ailments and create not only natural medicines but religious art that has survived to this day. I was in Soufflenheim Sept 15th 2019 to attend a special celebration at the completion of the restoration of Paul's great works of art including the chapel he built himself, and now includes his life size figures of the last supper.
Please click HERE to read more and see some of Paul Messner's art.

- Welcome to our new site which will try to list a little of the history of the Bernhardt and Maria Anne (Messmer) Schmuck Family.
- As you can see we have just started to put this site together Dec 10 2017.
- The idea of this site is for all members of the family to be able to contribute their stories, pictures, trees and even work directly on their site themselves, keeping it up to date, posting news of births, deaths, reunions etc. (just drop me a email for instructions; Ron)
- A big thank you has to go to the Historical Society of Maryhill who for over the past many years have kept our pioneer history, as well as to maintain the Halter House and many family records. If you are not a member you should be. Please take a moment to visit their site and perhaps join up. http://maryhillroots.com/
- Our chief Schmuck historian is El-Jay Hanson who has helped all of with our trees, and was doing this very difficult work long before computers were available to help in tracing each and every member of the family, Her book "East meets West" is a real work of love and dedication so from every one a Super big thank you El-Jay.
- Big Big Thank You to Susan Motz who let me use her "Schmuck Family" book to get some information onto the site right away
- Susan spent countless hours and produced a super "Story book" that is fun to read and full of information most people didn't realize existed such as the Condition on the sailing ships our ancestors endured.
